GOOD TO KNOW

A few things before we bake.

Ordering, collection, cake care and cancellations. Everything you need to know, in one place.

How are cakes and seasonal products priced?

Celebration cakes start from £50 for a minimum order of 2 kg (approximately 12–15 servings), before bespoke decoration and delivery. The final price is calculated after we receive your enquiry and requirements. Wedding cakes and seasonal orders are quoted individually. Share your requirements and, if you have one, a budget so we can discuss suitable options.

How far in advance should I enquire?

For cakes, please allow at least 7 calendar days for processing, including weekends and bank holidays. Seasonal products follow the Christmas and Orthodox Easter ordering windows. Enquire earlier for weddings or busy dates. Availability is confirmed individually; an enquiry does not reserve a date or confirm an order.

Do you offer collection and delivery?

We deliver personally from Loughborough to Leicester and surrounding areas, subject to availability. The first mile is included; additional distance is charged at £1 per mile, based on the one-way journey from Loughborough. We confirm the route, delivery charge and arrangements in your quote.

What if I have allergies or dietary requirements?

Please discuss any allergies or dietary requirements with us before ordering. We’ll confirm whether we can accommodate your request; do not assume any cake is allergen-free.

Cake storage & shelf life

Keep your cake in its own box in the fridge at 0–5°C, away from raw food and strong odours. Check that your fridge has space for the boxed cake before collection.

Consume within a maximum of 3 days of delivery or collection, or by any earlier use-by date supplied with your order. This limit assumes continuous refrigeration apart from transport and serving. Seasonal bakery products may need different storage: follow the instructions supplied for each product.

Transport & handling after collection

Bring a cool vehicle and take the shortest practical route home or to the venue. Keep the box level on a firm, non-slip surface, never on a sloping seat or someone’s lap. Keep it away from sunlight and heat; use suitable insulated transport to maintain refrigeration when needed.

Support the cake board and box underneath with both hands. Do not squeeze the box sides, tilt the cake or leave it in a parked car. Agree suitable transport or delivery arrangements in advance for tall or tiered cakes.

Before serving & leftovers

Take the cake out of the fridge no more than 1 hour before serving. Keep time out of refrigeration as short as possible, especially in a warm room. Display on a stable table away from sunlight, radiators and candles close to the cake.

Check which decorations and internal supports are not edible and remove them before cutting. Use clean utensils. Refrigerate remaining portions promptly in a covered container; the original use-by limit still applies. Do not serve a cake that may have been stored unsafely.

Check your order at handover

Please collect your order at the time agreed with us. If you expect to be late or need to change the collection time, please let us know as early as possible so we can agree suitable arrangements.

At collection or delivery, please check the visible condition, design, inscription, products and quantities against your agreed order. Tell us about any visible problem straight away so we can discuss a solution while the order is being handed over.

After collection, you are responsible for following the transport, handling and storage instructions. Damage caused solely by unsuitable care after handover is not a product defect. Checking or accepting your order does not remove your statutory rights or prevent you reporting a problem discovered later.

Deposit, cancellations & refunds

A 30% deposit is required to confirm an order, subject to the agreed order details. The remaining 70% is payable on delivery or collection. If you need to cancel, contact us as soon as possible. Any amount retained is assessed against actual, reasonable and unrecoverable costs already incurred for your order, with steps taken to reduce those costs. We explain the calculation and return any refundable balance; the deposit is not automatically forfeited in full.

Our cakes are bespoke and our bakery products are perishable. The usual change-of-mind return right for distance purchases does not apply to these products. This does not affect your statutory rights if goods are faulty, unsafe or do not match the agreed order; an appropriate remedy, including a refund where required, remains available.

How to report a problem

Contact AD Bakery House promptly on WhatsApp or Facebook with your order details, a description and photographs where possible. Problems discovered after handover are considered on their facts; there is no blanket exclusion of later complaints. If you suspect a food safety issue, stop eating the product. Keep relevant packaging and, only if safe, any remaining product refrigerated while we discuss next steps.
